General University Information
The Educational Policy Institute (EPI) is excited to introduce a new Canadian university search tool at a time when many Manitoba high school seniors debate where to attend school. EPI is currently working with the Globe and Mail on this exciting new project – the University Report Card Navigator. The Navigator is a web-based tool that allows prospective students and families a chance to visit an interactive portal and only search characteristics about Canadian institutions important to them. It is essentially a matching exercise. We recognize that Canadian youth have a diverse set of educational preferences and demands. This tool is intended to provide prospective students with the freedom to decide what indicators are most important to them, highlight those and find cross-institutional results based on their
personalized criteria. There are no weights or false rankings about which school is number one.
EPI is an international, non-profit think tank dedicated to the study of educational opportunity. Their mission is to provide high-level research and analysis to support policymakers and practitioners and expand educational opportunity to all students. EPI research focuses primarily on the issues related to educational opportunity throughout the education continuum, from early childhood education to graduate and professional studies, including adult education and workforce development. Specifically, EPI focuses on academic preparation for, access to, and success through all forms of postsecondary education, since the global society increasingly demands skill sets that require learning and training past compulsory school. EPI's work is divided into four main categories: policy analysis, research & evaluation, management
solutions, and public service.
The service and site are completely free (there is a registration required to allow facilitation of information between prospective students and institutions) and there are built in features for students to request additional contact information directly from universities that match high with their individualized priorities and find out key information about over 40 universities.
